Simple Baking

Dsc00270_1Can I really call this baking? Hmmm, not sure I can. I had my Sister and nephew over for the day yesterday and decided on a bit of nostalgia in the form of chocolate crispie cakes. We used to love them when we were little girls so I thought it would be fun to make to have with our coffee when she arrived. They are just about the easiest thing to make.

We had a really lovely day together. Lots of chatting and a lovely walk into Kew village then down to the river and along the tow path. Then back for coffee and cake and lots of fun with my nephew Hamish. He's just 10 months old and is possibly the most beautiful boy in the World, although I think this Aunty is rather biased! I don't have any children of my own yet, but really being an Aunty for the first time is possibly one of the most special things that has happened to me.

I've realised that I'm going to need to start carrying my camera with me on a daily basis if I want to create posts that anything near interesting. I stupidly didn't have it with me yesterday or infact, all weekend, so I have nothing to show for my lovely weekend apart from a tray of chocolate crispie cakes! This blogging thing is definitely a learning curve. Hopefully, more improvements tomorrow!

More about me

Well I'm starting to get the hang of this. After a few struggles I managed to change my banner. Not terribly exciting but it's a start. Now I've figured out how to do it I'm going to work on something that reflects me a bit better.

So I thought I should say a little bit about me. I'm Fiona, a 30 something single girl living in London(well Kew to be exact, but I work in central London). I work for an Interior Designer as a design assistant and love to spend my spare time being as creative as possible. The company I work for has a very masculine, sleek style but I love all things vintage, shabby, floral and feminine. One of my main inspirations as so many others, is the Queen of vintage floral style, Cath Kidston. I have to seriously restrain myself most days as I have two of her shops within a five minute walk of my office. Not good for the purse! Luckily most days I try to tell myself that I could make it myself for a quarter of the price.

Here's something I'm in the process of making. I just love patchwork and have been meaning to make a really big quilt for ages. It's nearly finished. I've just put a plain white backing on it so now I need to attach the two. It's going to live in my sitting room on the sofa to snuggle under in the winter. My
pictures are not great I don't think. I'm still learning when it comes to photography. I have a fairly new camera which I'm trying to get the hang of. I think I need a bit more work on lighting things better.

'Hello' Welcome to my new blog

I must admit that this feels really strange, writing about my life and wondering if anyone is going to read it. Or for that matter find it even slightly interesting!

I've been secretly reading other people's blogs for about 2-3 months having stumbled across Posy one day and followed one link to another. Anyhow, I've finally decided to take the plunge and join 'blogging land'. I'm really nervous about it. I hope I will be able to find enough to write about . There are some truely beautiful blogs out there so I feel I have a lot to live up to. Bare with me while I get the hang of this and get my site looking a bit more Nonnieish!
