Country Living on Line

Index1phpHas anyone noticed that Country Living Magazine has updated their website? As a huge CL fan I have always been a little disappointed by the quality of their site as I suppose I wanted something that was more like the mag itself but on line.
Index2phpI always looked at the Martha Stewart website and thought 'Why can't Country Living have something like that?' So that even when I'm at work and feel the need for a little browse through my favourite magazine I can do so by sitting at my computer screen.
Index3php So finally they've done it and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. They've got it all covered from articles on home furnishings to lovely recipes and lots lots more.
Index5php Obviously there's nothing quite like having your own personal 'almost collapsing from size' personal pile of real magazines, but this definitely does the trick when you need a bit more CL loveliness.

Polka Dots Revealed!

Dsc00409

I am finally very excited to be able to reveal what's been keeping me so busy for the last few weeks. I've been working with Cherry Menlove to produce a range of items to sell on her gorgeous website. I'm so excited about this project as I love her site and the things shes sells. The attached pictures are a little sneak peek of my items, but go have a look at her site and you'll see them all, as well as all her other lovely goodies!

Thank you so much Cherry for giving me the opportunity to make the things I create available to everyone.

Almost too pretty for coffee

Dsc00465_1
Aren't thes the cutest little coffee spoons you've seen? They go with this gorgeous set of coffee cups my Godmother bought me last year. I used a couple of them on Friday night as she came to dinner, and I just had to share them all with you. I really love them. They're from France where she used to live but they make me think of an English country garden. What do you think?

Too early for Christmas?

I read Posy's post the other day and it really made me start looking forward to Christmas lovliness. Funnily enough, I often find the day intself a bit of a let down and this year particularly I'm not really looking forward to my first Christmas without my last boyfriend as I still feel very sad about us splitting. But hey, lets forget about all that for now and focus on the whole prettiness of Christmas. I've been having a little search and found these gorgeous things over at Caroline Zoobs site.

I also found these that I like at Greengate

It's also got me thinking about the Country Living Christmas Fair which is always one of my yearly treats. For anyone who loves Country Living Magazine and Christmas it really is a must. I always get quite excited and am never disappointed by the loveliness and feast for the eyes when I walk in the doors. As well as lots of inspiration and lovely things to buy(last year my Mum complained of aching arms the next day from carrying so many bags home!) there is also a great Christmas food hall with lots of delicious Christmas treats to try from suppliers you might not see on the High Street. Looking at Caroline Zoobs site made me think of the Fair today because she usually has a beautiful stand there selling gorgeous Christmas things.

I would definitely recommend a trip if you're in the UK but if you don't fancy coming into London there are lots of similar events around the Country to get some Christmas inspiration such as this one at Loseley Park in Surrey, this one at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire and this one at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire.

OK, so that's more than enough Christmas talk for one day! We don't want to burn out before we even reach December.
PS The pictures above are driving me crazy. I can't get them to sit right unless I totally re-do the whole thing. So they're just going to have to stay where they are. To clarify, the little stocking and red star decoration are the Greengate things.

Getting Organised

Dsc00397
I don't know why, but I have been having a lot of trouble getting anything properly done lately. I've been feeling really tired and somehow like I was swimming through treacle. This was not good because I had a lot to get done. So yesterday morning I woke up with a lot of energy and enthusiam. This may have a lot to do with the lovely evening I had on Friday...! Anyway, whatever it was, it was great. I was like a woman pocessed. Windows were wide open, washing was spinning in the machine, the contents of my wardrobe were being flung on my bed while I cleaned the inside ready for organising my winter wardrobe. I had a casserole cooking away ready to be frozen for visit from my Godmother next Friday (and I know I won't feel like cooking for her after a day at work) and I totally re-organised the work tops in my kitchen which were looking more than a little tired and dusty. I liked it so much when I'd finished that I just had to take a picture.

So that was the morning. By lunch time the flat was organised and gleaming (ready for Godmother visit so I will have to be careful not to create much mess through the week) and I was ready to do some creating.Dsc00400This is bunting for my beautiful nephews first Birthday party next saturday. He's having a party with 3 little friends in my Sisters village hall. What fun! It's a long time since a went to a children's Birthday party, let alone one for four one year olds! I can't believe he's going to be one. It hardly seems like a minute ago that I was sitting here knitting like a crazy woman trying to finish the knitted patchwork cot blanket.
Dsc00399 I remember so clearly my Mum ringing me to say my Sis was in labour and spending the day not really being able to work properly because I was so excited that my nephew or neice was nearly here, and worrying about her getting through it ok. And then little Hamish arrived and now he's nearly one! I've bought him thiswhich I think is just so cute. He's going to look gorgeous in it.

Anyway, the bunting is done ready to make the village hall look bright and cheerful, and I also managed to get a lot of other creating done which hopefully I'll be able to tell you about soon.

Today I've been doing my National Trust Volunteering at Ham Housewhich has been a nice way to spend the afternnoon. Now I've just got time for a little more sewing then it's a nice early night for me after all this activity.

No Pictures

I seem to be having a frustrating time with photo taking at the moment. I had a busy crafting weekend but had planned on trying to fit in some time to take myself off for a walk around Kew and the river bank with my little camera, and take some lovely photos of the autumn colours that are starting to appear around here.

But it wasn't to be. The rain came pouring down for a lot of the day and made everything soggy and miserable and not very inspiring, so the only place to be was snuggled up in my kitchen theraputically painting polka dots and doing some sewing. Sorry, I cant tell you why I was painting polka dots as it's part of a little project I'm working on at the moment but hopefully all will be revealed soon.

I did enjoy myself though and I'm really pleased with what I achieved this weekend. Shame there's no photographic evidence of my weekend but here's hoping for a sunnier week ahead for me and my little camera.
