A Favourite Corner
I thought I'd share a tiny little corner of my home today. My bedside shelf to be precise. It's funny isn't it that when you take photos of where you live you really start to see it in a different way. You really see it. Looking at the photo above I like what I see but I do wonder if it is the bedside of a 35 year old woman or that of a child! We're contemplating moving at the moment and I do have a longing to create a slightly new look. Something a little more subdued and mature perhaps? But I do like my little bedside and the things that are sitting there. It's probably the real me. There's a very simple collage that I made as well as a card I made for George last Valentines. Sitting next to them is the sweet little Angel I bought from Carolyn last year and a gorgeous decorated box from my clever Sis. I must show you all what lives in that box one day. Another of her fabulous creations! Next to the box is a dear little china posy which I've written about before which used to belong to my Grandma. Finally there's my Crabtree and Evelyn rose handcream and a good old Cath Kidston spotty mug full of lovely tea. You'll also be able to spot my bed head which is covered with a lovely paisley eiderdown and another of Catherine's creations which is a gorgeous little bag embroidered with my initial. Above that is another of my heart collages.
All in all a nice bedside although I'm not so keen on the rest of the room. We live in a fairly modern and featureless rented place and I dream of a bit of character and curtains as the landlord has installed rather unattractive wood venetian blinds. I have a dream in my head of how our bedroom will look one day. You will of course see the results when it happens. I might add that George's side is not nearly so attractive. Piles of books and yachting magazines spilling over in a precarious manner are not my idea of a pretty corner of the home but it is his home as well as mine so I can't be too fussy!

What a marvelous little lampshade!

I love your bedside table and everything on it. The colors are beautiful. I think we should all do a post featuring our bedside tables and the things we have on them. I think that would be fun. Thank you for sharing yours. It's very lovely.

I love your corner and I don't think it's childish looking. If you love the look, then you should keep it.

If your bedside table was the first thing I'd see in the morning, I think I'd start off my mornings better than I usually do!!!

It is difficult to create a space of our own when we live in rented accommodation. I long to have a home where I can do what I want with my space.
I think that your space is lovely and cosy. Very welcoming at the end of the day with your most treasured possessions around you.
How is it that men are never happy unless they are surrounded by clutter?

Hi Fiona
It's so neat!!! I wish I could find one part of our house as tidy as that!!!!! I try so hard, but every time I get it straight I buy more stock or need to prepare for an antiques fair, and suddenly the house is 10 times too small!!! One day ...

Hi Fiona, everything looks very pretty and clearly each item has a special meaning to you, making it personal. I think a person should always have what they want and like in their home, not the latest trend etc. A home should be an extension of the person that lives there, so never be concerned what others think or would want to see! Lovely lampshade by the way! Clare x

Very cute corner! Love that mug and the collages!

Oh, i quite like magnolia...well, I suppose you could call it off-white!
Your corner is absolutely charming, especially your lampshade. I want one. Badly! It's best to just close your eyes to a boy's corner. They'll never change and we wouldn't want them to. Would we??

It looks like the bedside of a lady at home with her love of red, white, blue and hearts. It looks like a picture from a magazine.

It's a cute corner. We are all kids at heart anyway.
Have a great weekend!

It looks just beautiful. Our bedroom is one of the rooms we haven't decorated yet and it looks sad and drab. I love the lampshade and the red embroidery.

I think your bedside looks gorgeous, well I would wouldn't I with the addition of one of my creations! Your collages look wonderful in situ, the one on the wall reminds me a little of a Lucy Clibbon painting I saw in a gallery for 100's of £'s.
I'm rather ashamed to say that mine looks like your description of George's side at the moment, well no yatching magazines but plenty of home and gardenish ones, I really DO need to have a tidy up.

It looks lovely, really attractive especially the lampshade and picture. Unlike my bedside table which sounds more like George's!

Your corner looks so cute. We are having a bit of bedroom project going on, but as I'm not so well, I have to put my share of the project aside a bit. But soon we will have it all done and looking just as we want.
I'm in love with your lampshade. :)

I think it is lovely! Much like mine in that it is filled with special things. All my precious items end up on the tall unit I have as my bedside unit.
Rented property is terrible! I can't wait until we finally mangage to buy somewhere and I can do what I want with it. Instead of having magnolia, magnolia, magnolia!
