Brighton
I know it's a bit of an obvious picture when you've had a day out at in Brighton, but I couldn't resist snapping this row of deckchairs flapping around in the (strong) breeze. There's something so lovely and old fashioned about stripey beach deckchairs isn't there?
Well I had a lovely day on Saturday. I decided to take the train rather than drive which was a relaxing start. Friend Becky met me at the station and we had a lovely morning wandering the lovely shops around the lanes. Ooh I could have spent a lot! Good job for my band balance that I wasn't in the car so had to think about what I could carry. Did manage to pick up this little stash though. Some delicious lavender biscuits and 'Cheeseboard Chutney', both made in Sussex, a rather jolly washing up brush (which George asked for permission to use last night :-)), a pretty glass bottle which I will fill with pretty bubble bath, and a cute new ring.
Not a bad mornings shopping! We both agreed, that for once it was quite nice not to have 'the boys' with us as we could shop properly without bored faces behind us.
After shopping we went to a lovely place for lunch called 'Food for Friends'. Very well named for a long lunch with an old friend you haven't seen in a while. We were so busy chatting the waitress had to come back a fair few times before we were ready to order. Not quite sure why, but we both ended up with curry. I had a delicious Green Thai Curry and Becky had Korma. Both vegetarian which made a change for me but it was really lovely.
We walked off our huge lunch with a stroll along the beach back towards hove and Becky's gorgeous flat. Tea and lavender shortbread were consumed along with lots more chatting before I popped myself back on the train to London.
As George was away all weekend racing to Weymouth, I had Sunday to myself and started on the new ideas that have been bubbling in my head over the last month. No pictures to show as yet, but there is a steadily growing pile of cushions ready to be sewn together and I am experimenting with a knitted project that I'm rather excited about.
Holiday photos next post. I promise. xx

sounds like a fun day, love the deck chairs pic, and love looking round those little shops where you find something differant. Sarah x

I just finished reading (for the first time) Pride and Prejudice, so I can see Lizzie's little sister, Lydia, there are Brighton with the *regiment* and naughty Mr. Wickham! I've got the 2 latest versions of the story (DVDs) and have been watching them a lot -- such a romantic tale, and now I have a good mental picture of Bright. Next, you must go to Derbyshire so I can get a good mental picture of where Darcy lives!! (love the stripey chairs!)

Oh the day you come to Brighton is the day we go somewhere else! . We were on that beach this afternoon! We also share the same scrubbing brush too! Sounds like you had a great weekend. Thanks for all the lovely comments you've been leaving me.

Sounds like the perfect day, shopping and a long lunch with a close friend.
I too like deckchairs, there is something about them and also beach huts.

I love the pictures of those beach chairs. If I had a beach house I would have chairs exactly like that!

Brighton is great, my brothers at uni there. I have a lovely time visiting him there. You are sensible getting the train the traffic can get very bad.

I actually really love that picture. There's something beautifully sad about Brighton and this kind of describes it best. Becky's flat looks amazing and how clever to have it on the web like that it must sell in no time this way.Oh and I have that washing up brush too it's by Rice from Denmark!!

Nice to have you back, sounds like you've got lots to share! I love Brighton, I want to live in your friend's flat actually, it's just stunning. The photos are lovely, the South Coast is so photogenic I always think, makes me want to have a day out(in fact I might just do that in August)

I remember Brighton being mentioned in novels and always day dreaming about that beach being such a beautiful vacation spot. I've never seen a picture of the area before, and now I see it is every bit as pretty as my daydreams. thanks
