Making me happy today...

Dsc01457

...this very jolly dish I found in the Designers Guild sale the other week. I couldn't resist! I think it's going to look lovely in the middle of my kitchen table once I've painted it.

Also making me happy....

- The sun is supposed to shine this weekend (fingers crossed)
- Looking forward to spending most of the weekend with my Sis and adorable nephew as we head off to a family Christening - catching up with all our lovely Cousins, what could be more happy making?
- I'm wearing my new yellow sandals. They're a bit crazy but just looking at them makes me smile.
- Enjoying the treat of a large mocha while I sit at my desk this morning getting geared up for the day.
- It's Friday!
- It's a Bank Holiday Weekend!
- My boss isn't in until 10 o'clock!
- I've started on my stock for the Christmas fairs. (ooops! said that c word again!)

Thank you again for all the lovely comments on my last post. They really do mean such a lot to me. I'm slowly trying to wade through and reply to all of them as well as the emails I've received. I'm sorry if I haven't got back to you yet. Please know that I appreciate every one of them and I'm not sure I could have got through the last few weeks without you all.

Finally, congratulations to Marie, Cherry and Jo for being the first three to comment on the last post. There will be a little Nonnyish something in the post to you in the next week or so. I already know where you live Cherry, but can you other two please let me know your details?

I hope you all have things that are making you happy today. Have a lovely lovely weekend and those of us in the UK, lets hope we see that elusive sun! xxx

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

These are for you. All you lovely lovely ladies (Sorry, and you too Fred) out there who have sent the kindest messages of support. Especially to those of you who have take the time to regularly email me to check I'm ok, and have listened to me tell you all my problems. You know who you are and I cannot thank you all enough. This has been a pretty tough couple of weeks and I've still a long way to go, but I couldn't have got through it without you all. Obviously family and friends have been fantastic but having this extra 'virtual' support every time I went to my email has just been amazing. I do have to give special thank you to dear Cherry who's lovely home I escaped to on Sunday. We drank lots of champagne and Pimms and ate gorgeous Birthday cupcakes baked by her Sister. It was just what I needed. Thank you Cherry. xx

I don't want to dwell on all the details as this blog is supposed to be more than anything about my creative life. I will just explain though that in past few weeks my lovely George and I have decided to split. I hoped we would always be together and it is heartbreaking to realise that we won't be, but I know in my heart that it is for the best and in a sense he is setting me free to hopefully have the things I really want in life which is more than anything, a family.

So now I need to throw myself into a new future. I am filling my time with lots of plans. I have booked myself into four Christmas fairs which I'll give you details of a little nearer the time so I will be kept busy making plenty of stock in the coming months. I may even be amusing you all with dating tales in a few months time. Can't quite image it yet but give me some time and I know it has to be done.

Some weeks ago now, I was lucky enough to receive a gorgeous little package from Alison in her 'Pay it Forward' post.

Just look how cute this little hearts and strawberry are. They are all tiny so the detail is amazing.

So now it's my turn. I will send a little handmade gift to the first three people to comment on this post, but you must then post the same again on your blog and forward on your own three gifts.

Thank you again for all your messages of support. If I could send you all a little gift I would. You are a very special group of people. xx

I'm taking a break so won't be around for a while. I'm not sure exactly when I'll be back, but I will be back. I just need some time to sort myself out as I have a lot of sadness happening in my life right now. I'll miss you all but will talk to you all again soon I promise. x

'If you can't go sailing, go to Cornwall'

So we were happily pottering up Chichester Harbour on the second day of our holiday when George realised the tiller had broken. Quite difficult to steer with a broken tiller. Then we realised that part of the guard rail was quite seriously broken. Quite dangerous to go to sea with broken guard rails!

So what do you do when your boat is broken and you have a planned weeks holiday ahead of you? You call the in-laws and say "hello, would you like to see us? Like tonight? For like, a week?" Luckily, George's Mum and Dad were very happy with this suggestion so said yes, see you later! Hooray! Our holiday wasn't ruined.

So we jumped in the car and headed off through gorgeous Dorset and Devon countryside to the loveliness that is Cornwall. I had to ask George to stop so I could take this view of the Dorset coastline looking west towards Devon. Despite a few clouds, it was fantastically clear.

We stopped at a little roadside cafe and a couple of these chaps came to say hello. They were very brave, but then I think they were tempted by the delicious bacon sandwiches we were enjoying.

We had a lovely day in St Ives while we were there, although I did think George was going to explode as we sat on the very overcrowded train from Penzance to St Ives. We chose to take the train as it saves looking for a parking space, and the view as it winds it's way along the coast line is quite stunning. But the train was packed with holiday makers and after the lady behind us had bashed her elbow into George's head for the second time, my lovely boyfriend was not such a happy person! Hopefully the fantastic light of St Ives cheered him, and the huge bowls of delicious Moules washed down with a bottle of very chilled white in a peaceful little restaurant away from the crowds definitely helped! Here are some views of the day. The light was unbelievable and I'm not sure the camera has fully captured it.

We've been many times to Penzance now and have often walked past this pub but have never spotted what is is on the roof!

We were reasonably lucky with the weather while we were there but on one very dull morning we drove over to Falmouth to visit the Maritime Museum. It was the nearest thing to sailing that poor George got during the week. I know he enjoyed the week but did spend a lot of the time wishing we were on our little 'Merit'. He did get to admire some though.

The view from the viewing tower at the museum. I loved the terraced hillside of Falmouth. Would probably have been prettier in the sun!

Our week was truely relaxing and although it wasn't exactly what we had planned, it was a lovely holiday nevertheless. How could it not have been when we had such a lovely little companion to share our time there.

Alfie is George's Mum and Dads new dog. He may not be the prettiest dog in the World but he is the cutest. So funny, and very difficult to leave behind.

Our journey home was via George's Sisters in Looe for the night, then accross on the chain ferry to Plymouth, just for fun, before a little trip down memory lane for George, showing me the village he used to live in in Devon as a child after they left Cornwall. Here are a couple of images of Plymouth Hoe and looking out towards Plymouth Sound.

Finally, here is a very unusual weir that feeds a water mill in Ottery St Mary, which is close to where George used to live. We took a peaceful walk along the millstream to see this and had the most wonderful experience, when not one, but two kingfishers swooped down to the water then flew right past us along the length of the stream! We both just stood there open mouthed in amazement. I wish I could have captured it on film but they were far too quick. It finished off the holiday a treat. We may not have had our planned adventure to the Isle of Wight, but I know we will have chance to do that at some point, and our week in Cornwall was lovely. Cornwall is a place that makes me feel utterly relaxed and I feel lucky to have met my gorgeous Cornish man and be able to share his gorgeous birthplace with him. Thank you my love for a very lovely holiday x
