Before the tree
I'm really stretching out the build up to the tree pictures aren't I? The light in the Sitting Room was so cosy on Saturday though and it was all looking so tidy and lovely that I had to take a few 'before the tree' pictures. I'm really loving my little Sitting Room now that I've got it just as I want it.
I decided to put some of my unsold cushions on the sofa to add a splash more colour. There's a major red, white and blue theme going on in here now and even the Christmas decorations coordinate with everything else. I actually decided that apart from the tree itself, I'd quite like to keep everything as it is in the new year, meaning keeping up the twigs and decorations and the bunting below. Or maybe that's a bit silly. Perhaps I'll just keep the bunting and mix some daffodils or tulips in with the twigs on the 6th January. I always love that, don't you? Going to buy some spring flowers as soon as the tree comes down. Makes it seem a little more bearable. But I shouldn't be talking about that yet, Christmas is still two weeks away. Two weeks today!
Last night I got all my remaining parcels of orders wrapped up and ready to go. So those of you who ordered cards and decorations should have them in time for Christmas. I even finished all my Christmas cards and parcelled up the one present I have to post away. Very organised! And feeling a little bit virtuous!! I think I deserve a night of doing nothing but watching TV and sipping sloe gin this evening! I'll probably need that after braving the post office queue at lunchtime.
Did anyone see Nigella last night. Gosh, I'm sad that series has come to an end. Going to have to get the book. I'm absolutely dreaming of the chocolate and pistachio fudge she made last night! I was even thinking about it on the bus this morning. Some of that is definitely going to get made at the weekend.
I hope wherever you are today it's as perfect as here in London. Very cold and crisp with stunning blue sky and sunshine. Really lifts the spirits after the gloom of the last few days. Have a lovely day and I'll see you again tomorrow. x

What a beautifull room, I love these colors!!!

I love your sitting room Fiona, gingham is so homely and I have a lot of red/dusky pink accessories too. If you are not superstitous keeping decorations up is not silly, if I put fairy lights up I keep them up for the winter months, it just brings a little sparkle to the dark evenings. I am very organised this year too, I posted my cards in the box this morning. I have been enjoying these lovely sunny days, a bit of sunshine is good for the soul. x

Oh wow!! It looks so fun and inviting in your apartement! I really love the colours that you have used. Your branch with felted Christmas trees looks great!I have to coordinate my Christmas decorations with everything else too. And I also like it very simple. Every year I try to add more decorations, but I end up removing them, again.
I really love your Chair! I mean, the old one that is placed against the wall.
Nigella seems like such a wonderful person. I have to buy one of her books too. If I stay late up I watch it during the weekend, at the middle of the night.( one of the bbc channels)
I hope that you have had a great day and have a good night sleep dear, kiss :))

Gorgeous Fiona!
Just like your decorations which arrived the other day. Absolutely lovely, thank you so much!
Your room is so tidy, I just dream of such tidiness.

Your home looks straight from a Country Living feature Fiona... so pretty and immaculate!
I don't think you should take your decorations down until it feels right !! I have kept a large victorian glass bauble tied to our balustrade for the last year!
Good luck in the post office!

Very lovely…
What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace (Agnes M. Pharo).
Enjoy the Season

Lovely pics again.
Thanks for the decorations - they are adorable. I have one in my car and the rest are hanging around my desk today but tonight they go on to my tree when we put it up. Can't wait!

Your room looks lovely, it's nice to have a weekend at home to get your house in order although mine wouldn't stay like that for long! I loved Nigella's show, I bought her book last week and it's fab, there are lots of recipes I want to try and I can recommend it. Treat yourself for Christmas, I did!

Oooh, I've got a twiggy tree up too, hoping to go and get our tree this weekend, we have a christmas tree farm just up the road from us. In fact he was featured in CL 2 christmases ago!

What a beautiful room! Nigella's fudge recipe is on the BBC website - I'm making it next week for the kid's teachers!

Hi Fiona,
How was the sloe gin? I've never tried it, but I received a box of those delicious sloe truffles in the post last week ~ I'm savouring them! I was supposed to be keeping them for Christmas, but as I wanted to post about them on my blog, I had to open them ~ what can I say?
Looking forward to seeing your decorations and your room looks lovely.
We have sleet this morning with a forecast of freezing rain ~ thank goodness I'm now at home, as I am terrified of that stuff ~ so slippery and dangerous.
Enjoy your day.

Hi Fiona, your room looks really inviting, it's fresh but cosy at the same time. I'll bet you love sitting in there. Your branch tree is so sweet, I would leave it up all year (but where would you do your sewing?)
Looking forward to seeing the tree!

Hello there. Thanks for popping by my blog to say hello. What a restful, elegant room and so very pretty too. My sitting room is very pre my discovery of vintage but it is cosy. Sounds like you certainly deserve a rest. I think your branches would look fabulous with some paper white narcissi underneath, great idea!
