Positively Patchwork
Remember this? For any of you who have been reading my blog from the start back in August 06, you might just remember that I started this patchwork quilt back then. I'm slightly ashamed to say that it is still not finished! It lays folded over the arm of one of my sofas pretending to be done and every time Hamish comes to visit I have to put it out of the way because it is full of pins. Infact I keep thinking that I need to buy more pins and then I remember that I have at least 30(probably more) stuck around the edge of the patchwork.
So having read Mia's post today about the fact she is starting another patchwork quilt, I am setting myself a challenge here and now to finish the one that I have started. And you lot are all my witnesses to this personal challenge. You can nag me about it if you like. Say around the middle of February. Feel free to say, 'hey Fiona, is that patchwork quilt finished yet?!'
The crazy thing is that it is so near to be finished. The patchwork bit is actually done. It's the backing that is half finished. I'm actually just backing it with vintage white sheet without any padding inbetween as I don't want it to be too bulky. What is taking the time is the fact that I am hand stitching through the two layers along each patchwork join, in one direction. I'm doing this in red embroidery thread so that the white side will not be plain but will be decorated with rows so little running stitches. I'm about half way through this process. I then just need to put some sort of binding around the edge. So it's really close. Just got to get on with it instead of thinking about new projects.
Well it's the weekend again. After a dull, wet week I'm feeling really ready for it. I have a lovely day planned tomorrow as I'm going over to Marlow for lunch out with Mum, Dad, Sis, Brother-in-law(John) and wee Hamish. It's John's Birthday on Monday so he decided he wanted to have lunch out all together. Marlow is such a lovely place to go to so I'm really hoping the sun might shine. On the way over there I'm planning on popping into a craft shop my Sis told me about to pick up some new bits and bobs for getting creative.
Hopefully Sunday will be the day for being creative. I hope that you all have a lovely weekend whatever you're doing. xx

Ooh lovely quilt.. .keep on stitching, I want to see the end result!x

Your quilt is looking very lovely and colourful, and can not wait to see it finished. And by the sound of it you do not seem to have that much more to do. But of course hand stitching does take its own time. Like I said, I really like your colours; in fact, I am feeling all colourful these days. It must be the gray, rainy and bleak winter we are having, that makes me seek comfort and joy in colours stronger than I would normally choose. My ripple crochet blanket is a good example, it is turning out to be quite a circus tent of colours!

Hello! Lovely quilt!!! It's the last bits that take it out of you with quilting isn't it!
I started cutting out the squares last night for the one we are doing to raffle for the fundraising for my sister's next Africa trip (she does youth work and it goes to help pay for the travel for the young people they take with them) so I can empathise - please feel free to nag me too!
Keep on going it's going to look fab!!!

The colours of your quilt are lovely, you must finish it. I'm still working on my crochet blanket, it's been 6 months now and I'm still less than half way. January and February are good for sitting in front of the tv being creative so I will if you will!Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Nonnie!
You are such a darling! Thank you so much for every visit and sweet comment that you have left me lately. Myself hasn`t been to good visiting others. Saturday again, can`t believe that really, time flies!
I just came home, have been shopping mad today :) Found some really really beautiful fabric for a very good price. And I also found a lot of cloths, 70% discount. SO happy about that too!
We should have done some shopping together really.
I am shure you are already off to Marlow eating lovely lunch with your friends and family. That is so nice!
I also Hope that you will find some interesting at the crafts store. I found some decoupage paper today. With Italian print..
I really like your new quilt, it is perfect for the spring/summertime!
I see myself/you late summernight, when the temperature goes down, with strawberry and a glass of whine in a lovely garden, with the quilt wrapped around us.
Sometimes you just need that extra push to finnish stuff, I have the same! I always start very motivated with full of enthusiasm, but half way down I get bored. And then I start on another thing. And I forget about the first thing :)
One of my New Year resolutions are to finnish what I have started! (love the quilt that Mia makes)
Enjoy your weekend and talk to you very soon Nonnie!
Kiss from Aina
(I will send you an e-mail soon)

Lovely and colorful. This reminds me of the popular quilts I made when I had a quilting business in my home. So many people seemed to enjoy my colorful quilts (sometimes following a color scheme, sometimes not) made simply of squares. Most were made with 5- inch or 7-inch squares.

That is a lovely quilt.
You will finish it soon I'm sure of it.
I had one for the longest time unfinished. They look pretty either way.
Sounds like you have a lovely weekend planned.
Enjoy,
Rosemary

Gald I'm not the only one who starts things and doesn't finish them. Although I'm sure you will finish this now if only to stop us all nagging at you.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the family gathering.

Lovely quilt, you can keep warm under it while stitching at this time of year. And the the super mix of colours will certainly be a mood enhancer.

Hi Fiona, that quilt is looking fabulous, I say curl up in fron of Sense and Sensibility on Sunday night after your lovely day in Marlow, box of chocs in one hand and embroidery thread in the other and it'll be finished in no time. I have no quilt to finish but I think this is prabably what I'll be doing! Love the card box btw. I have some Sally Swannell Christmas cards that get put back up every year, such lovely pictures, I'd love to line in one of those houses. Fancy us having the same jug?! Great minds obviously thinking alike. Have a smashing weekend.
